Mythic Mind: The Next Chapter

When the Mythic Mind podcast first aired five years ago, I had no idea as to what it would become. It began with (fairly) regular postings about Kierkegaard as I worked on my doctoral dissertation and it followed my growing interest in fairy tales, Tolkien, Lewis, and beyond. My time with the Inklings made me realize how much I wanted a similar kind of community. When I posted about this on X (then Twitter), I was met with overwhelming responses from others who longed for this as well.
It is a marvel that the Inklings were assembled in the same time and place, but the reality is that most of us are not quite so fortunate. However, despite the negative consequences of the digital age, one very positive feature is the ability to bring together communities of overlapping interests that are spread across the country, and even the world. With this in mind, we began our next chapter as the Mythic Mind Fellowship about three years ago. This is when we began our Discord server, launched our Fellowship Substack, began our book clubs, and starting planning our spin-off shows, such as Mythic Mind Games and Mythic Mind movies. Two years ago, I also led my first independent course, "The Fiction and Philosophy of C.S. Lewis," which was a 12-week study with over 100 participants.
Since beginning the Fellowship, most of the core group has remained and many have joined our ranks. As I write this, we have 75 paid patrons and an additional 200 who follow our Patreon account. This is a great group, but we have started to hit a ceiling regarding what our current infrastructure can facilitate, which tells me that it is time for a new chapter, hence the new Mythic Mind Fellowship website.
By removing ourselves from Patreon, we will have the capacity to consolidate our various branches into a single root - that we own. This is where you will find:
- A member-only podcast feed (early, ad-free, and extended episodes)
- Fellowship-produced articles and essays
- Book clubs and reading groups
- In-depth courses led by me and occasional guest creators
- A shared calendar of events and discussions
