TheMythic Mind
Cosmos
When a modern person looks up at the night sky, he tends to find a question mark. The medieval person looked up at the same sky and found an answer. As C.S. Lewis puts it in The Discarded Image, “The ‘space’ of modern astronomy may arouse terror, or bewilderment or vague reverie; the spheres of the old present us with an object in which the mind can rest, overwhelming in its greatness but satisfying in its harmony.” This map is drawn for the mind that seeks that rest. Every episode, essay, and course has a place in one of these heavens, set by the question it asks. Tap a sphere to go straight there, or rise through them one at a time.

Drawn after the manner of the sixteenth-century cosmographies, and after the old picture of the heavens. The map is still being filled in. If you think something belongs in a different heaven, tell me. Godspeed. Music credits
