## In this episode

Orual writes her case against the gods with a veiled face and a jealous love. Till We Have Faces, Book One, is Lewis’s retelling of Cupid and Psyche as a story about the self we hide and the truth we cannot yet bear.

In this Mythic Mind lecture from the Fiction and Philosophy of C.S. Lewis course, Dr. Andrew Snyder (professor of philosophy and theology) walks Part One of Lewis’s greatest novel: Orual’s narrative voice, Psyche’s sacred beauty, the Fox’s Stoic teaching, and the complaint that will not stay quiet.

Topics include veil and identity, possessive love versus gift-love, and why Book One withholds the face we need before the gods can answer.
