## In this episode

Jill cries behind the gym on a dull autumn day, and Lewis refuses a mere school story. The Silver Chair sends her and Eustace under the earth with four signs to remember, an enchanted prince to free, and a witch who prefers soft lies to hard waking. In this class lecture from The Fiction and Philosophy of C.S. Lewis, Dr. Andrew Snyder (professor of philosophy and theology) calls it his favorite Chronicle and reads its symbols: Experiment House’s soft cruelty, Puddleglum’s stubborn realism, and a Platonic hunger for the world above the cave.

Topics include remembering Aslan’s signs when the underworld feels like the only world, disordered passion vs. clear sight, and why this volume still cuts deepest for many adult readers.
