## In this episode

Before the wardrobe, Digory rings a bell in a dead world and wakes Jadis; then Aslan sings Narnia into being. This class lecture from The Fiction and Philosophy of C.S. Lewis reads The Magician’s Nephew for origins and moral cost: Uncle Andrew as scientist-magician grasping for control, Charn’s ruin, the apple of life, and creation begun in music rather than domination.

Dr. Andrew Snyder (professor of philosophy and theology) also frames this volume beside The Last Battle as the course’s Narnia close, and ties Andrew’s lonely will to the “men without chests” pattern Lewis never stopped diagnosing.
