## In this episode

The Last Jedi is the sequel that most openly refuses the old story’s grain: “kill the past,” sacred texts put to the fire, Luke as a legend who will not play the part fans brought him back to play. Andrew hears it as the reverse of Return of the Jedi’s underworld rescue: not redeem the father, but leave him in the dark.

In this Mythic Mind Movies conversation, Dr. Andrew Snyder (professor of philosophy and theology) and guests take up a film that is rarely a fan favorite. They talk meandering plot and progressive messaging without turning the hour into a rant, Luke’s dull disillusionment vs interesting failure, Holdo’s beauty and cost, the casino subplot, and whether hope still means anything when the map of meaning is burned.

Topics include legend against inheritance, Rey’s static moral compass, Kylo’s invitation to forget, and how this middle chapter strains the saga’s theological nerves.
