## In this episode

The last chapters of That Hideous Strength throw Mark into Belbury’s prison of ideas, wake Merlin as the reverse of NICE, and open the war between Logres and the bent world.

In this Mythic Mind lecture from the Fiction and Philosophy of C.S. Lewis course, Dr. Andrew Snyder (professor of philosophy and theology) walks chapters 12-17: Frost’s macrobes, Babel imagery rising toward judgment, Merlin’s old order against progressive magic, and Jane’s ascent into the great dance of masculine and feminine under what is above all things.

Topics include demonic hierarchy dressed as science, the foil of St. Anne’s, and why this finale is the densest philosophical stretch of the Ransom trilogy.
