## In this episode

Freud’s Last Session stages a fictional meeting between Sigmund Freud and C.S. Lewis on the eve of war: faith, pain, wish-fulfillment, and two stubborn minds. Andrew picked it for the premise, not as an endorsement; the film flattens both men (Freud as sex-obsessed materialist shorthand, Lewis as generic apologetics) and even invents a Strobel-like evidence montage that breaks the conversion story. The result casts Lewis as an amateur apologist rather than himself.

In this Mythic Mind Movies conversation, Dr. Andrew Snyder (professor of philosophy and theology) and guests still find heat in the premise: what the play does better than the film, where theodicy and The Problem of Pain sit unfinished, and why a dialogue movie can miss the particular Lewis and the particular Freud while still naming real wounds.

Topics include myth become fact without courtroom apologetics, suffering before A Grief Observed, and arguing God when cancer is already in the room.
