## In this episode

Augustine opens the Confessions with a restless heart and a sixteen-year-old’s theft of pears: desire, memory, and the first turns of a soul toward (and away from) God. This Mythic Mind episode is the fellowship’s free book-club conversation on Books 1 and 2.

Dr. Andrew Snyder (professor of philosophy and theology) hosts the first meeting of the Confessions study: childhood, education, the hunger for praise, the sexual restlessness of adolescence, and why Augustine insists our hearts are restless until they rest in God.

Topics include reading Confessions as prayer and philosophy, the pear tree as disordered love, and how to join the ongoing book club.
